Tripura, 27 Dec 2025: In a major crackdown on illegal liquor trafficking, police seized a large consignment of foreign liquor worth around ₹6 lakh and arrested two persons in Kailashahar.
The operation was carried out by Kailashahar Police Station during routine checking on the Dharmanagar–Kailashahar road. Acting on suspicion, police intercepted a Bolero vehicle bearing registration number TR-02-K-1743 at Bhagabannagar area.
According to the Officer-in-Charge of Kailashahar police station, the vehicle was stopped while it was traveling from Dharmanagar towards Dolugaon via Kailashahar. During a thorough search, police recovered 3,060 bottles of foreign liquor from the vehicle. The seized liquor is estimated to have a market value of approximately ₹6 lakh.
The driver, Nantu De, and his associate, Priyatosh De, both residents of Dolugaon under Kailashahar subdivision, were arrested on the spot. The seizure and arrests have created a stir in the local area.
A case has been registered against the accused, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and intended destination of the illegal consignment. The arrested persons will be produced before the court on Monday.
