Tripura, 26 Dec 2025: Amid the increasingly tense situation between India and Bangladesh, a major and worrying incident has come to light in Tripura’s Udaipur subdivision. At a time when border surveillance has been intensified, police arrested three Bangladeshi nationals from the Udaipur area, triggering fresh concerns over security and national interest.
According to Udaipur Sub-Divisional Police Officer Debanjali Roy, the arrests were made following specific intelligence inputs. Acting on the tip-off, police first detained the three Bangladeshi nationals from the Dhajja Nagar area of Udaipur. During preliminary interrogation, the name of an Indian tout allegedly involved in facilitating illegal border crossings surfaced.
Subsequently, police launched an operation and arrested the suspected Indian agent from the Killa area. Investigators believe that the accused was actively assisting in illegal infiltration across the international border.
Police officials stated that cases will be registered against the arrested persons under the Passport Act. In addition, a detailed investigation is underway to ascertain whether the accused were involved in any anti-national activities or had links to suspicious or anti-India networks through social media or other digital platforms. Their mobile phones, social media accounts, and other digital data are being thoroughly examined.
Security experts view the arrests as highly significant in the backdrop of the current sensitive India–Bangladesh relations. Such incidents of illegal infiltration in a border state like Tripura have naturally heightened public concern.
The administration has assured that no compromise will be made on issues of national security. Police have also made it clear that if further individuals are found to be involved in the network, strict legal action will be taken against them.
