Agartala: Dec 26. Khowai district earned national recognition as Class VII student Riddhita Ghosh from Ajagartila won a prize at a national-level drawing competition held in New Delhi, bringing pride to Tripura and her hometown.
Riddhita Ghosh, daughter of Ramkrishna Ghosh and Mitali Gopal of West Sonatala village, Ajagartila, secured the honour after progressing through school-level and state-level rounds of a drawing competition organised by a power sector organisation. After topping both levels, she was selected among 13 participants from across the country for the national round.
The national competition was held on December 11 at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi, with results declared on December 14. Riddhita, a student of Holy Cross School, Agartala, received a certificate of appreciation from Union Power Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in the presence of President Droupadi Murmu and other dignitaries.

Her father, Ramkrishna Ghosh, a librarian at Dasarath Deb Memorial College, Khowai, said Riddhita has shown exceptional talent in drawing since childhood. The family and residents of Khowai expressed joy over her achievement, calling it a proud moment for the cultural town.
As part of the recognition, the organising agency will sponsor a family trip to Gujarat from January 21 to 23, covering all expenses.
