Dharmanagar: Dec 26. As part of the Government of India’s “Child Marriage Free Campaign,” a major awareness drive was conducted in North Tripura under a joint initiative of the Tripura State Government and the Education Department. Taking a lead role in implementing the national programme, Satsangam Higher Secondary School under Kadamtala Assembly constituency organized an extensive anti-child marriage campaign in the border region.
The 100-day special campaign aims to completely eliminate child marriage from society while strengthening the objectives of “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” by ensuring safety and education for girl children. Special focus has been placed on the Satsangam tea garden area, where preventive measures are being intensified to ensure zero incidents of child marriage.
On Friday morning, around 10 am, the school organized a well-coordinated awareness rally against child marriage. Students and teachers participated actively, carrying placards and banners while raising slogans highlighting the harmful effects of child marriage and the importance of girls’ education.
The rally passed through the local market and tea garden areas, spreading awareness among residents, and concluded at the school premises at around 1 pm.
Speaking on the occasion, Headmaster Pradyut Das said that child marriage remains a serious social evil and emphasized the need to create awareness among students to eradicate the practice from society. He expressed hope that the campaign would safeguard the future of children in the Satsangam tea garden belt.
Local guardians and residents welcomed the initiative, stating that such awareness programmes play a crucial role in bringing positive social change.
