Tripura, 26 Dec 2025: A wave of relief has swept across Unakoti district after 24 missing adolescents and youths from the Chandipur Assembly constituency were safely rescued from Arunachal Pradesh. The development was shared during a press conference by IPS Sudhambika R, Superintendent of Police, Unakoti.
According to the SP, a missing complaint was lodged at Kailashahar Police Station on Tuesday, following which an FIR was immediately registered and investigation initiated. Technical surveillance and mobile location tracking revealed that the youths had been taken to the Belang Police Station area in Arunachal Pradesh.
Subsequently, the Unakoti district police coordinated closely with the Arunachal Pradesh Police and launched a swift rescue operation. SP Sudhambika R said the operation succeeded due to direct coordination between Anurag Dhankar, Director General of Police, Tripura, and Anand Mohan, Director General of Police, Arunachal Pradesh.
All 24 missing persons were safely rescued by the Arunachal Pradesh Police. They are currently under police supervision, and necessary legal formalities are being completed. Arrangements are underway to bring them back to Tripura at the earliest.
