Tripura, 23 Dec 2025: Amid heightened tension following the suspension of visa services between the two countries, a Border Security Force (BSF) jawan was injured in a firing incident along the India–Bangladesh border in North Tripura.
The injured jawan has been identified as Bipin Kumar (35), a member of the 97th Battalion of the Border Security Force. The incident occurred while he was on duty at the Maheshpur border area under the Dharmanagar subdivision of North Tripura district.
According to hospital sources, Bipin Kumar was rushed to the emergency department and admitted to the ICU with a firearm injury to his left shoulder. Doctors stated that there were two entry wounds which later merged into one, indicating a firing-related injury. Initially, his condition was critical.
A doctor attending the case said that after immediate primary management, the jawan’s condition stabilized. He was subsequently sent for a CT scan and is being referred to Agartala for advanced medical treatment. At present, his condition is reported to be relatively stable.
Security agencies have launched an inquiry to ascertain the exact circumstances under which the firing took place at the sensitive border area. Further details are awaited.
