Agartala, Dec 21: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday cited Tripura as a key example of fast-paced development under BJP rule while addressing a public rally at Ranaghat in West Bengal.
Modi contrasted governance in Tripura after 2018 with the situation in West Bengal, sharply criticising the CPI(M) and the Trinamool Congress. He said Tripura had suffered for nearly three decades under communist rule before the BJP came to power.
According to the Prime Minister, the BJP government in Tripura accelerated development, improved governance systems, and focused on infrastructure and inclusive growth. He alleged that West Bengal, despite expectations of change after the Left era, continued facing administrative decline due to the TMC adopting what he called the “bad practices” of the Left and inducting former Left leaders.
Modi argued that Tripura’s development trajectory demonstrates the success of the “double-engine” model of Centre–state coordination. He appealed to the people of West Bengal to support political change, claiming that only then would Bengal achieve progress comparable to Tripura.
