Tripura, 20 Dec 2025: The 27th Kalajhari Festival was held at the foothills of Taishiya Main in Amarpur in a festive atmosphere. The event was jointly organized by the Department of Information and Cultural Affairs and the Amarpur Sub-Divisional Administration.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including MLA Ranjit Das, BAC Chairman Rabitra Jamatia, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Anupam Das, Block Development Officer Utpal Das, Chairperson of the Amarpur Nagar Panchayat Bikash Saha, along with officials from the Social Education and Social Welfare Department, representatives of the TTAADC, members of the Doli Reang community, and other distinguished guests.

The programme formally began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the invited guests. Addressing the gathering, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate and MLA Ranjit Das highlighted the significance and core objectives of the Kalajhari Festival. Speakers stressed the importance of preserving traditional culture and heritage through such festivals and also pointed to the scope of developing the picturesque natural surroundings into a tourism destination, which could generate employment opportunities for local people.
However, despite the cultural importance of the festival, several shortcomings were noticed in its organization. Although the programme was scheduled to begin at 10 am, it reportedly started after 12 noon. Public participation was limited, and a lack of proper arrangements and coordination by the organizers was visible at the festival ground.
Overall, the 2025 Kalajhari Festival was completed in a single day, but organizational lapses and mismanagement overshadowed the cultural spirit and objectives of the event.
