Tripura, 15 Dec 2025: Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu on Saturday inaugurated the second annual Weekly Cultural Haat organised by the Bangla Sanskriti Balay at Debram village under Sonamura subdivision.
In his inaugural address, the Governor expressed hope that the weekly cultural haat would play an important role in preserving and promoting the rich traditional culture of Bengal. He said the “Vocal for Local” slogan given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be effectively realised through such initiatives and expressed optimism that the cultural haat would gradually establish itself as a unique destination.
The Governor stated that the haat would provide a platform for local producers and artisans to market their products, thereby improving their economic condition and helping them become self-reliant. He also thanked the office-bearers of Bangla Sanskriti Balay for taking this meaningful initiative.
Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath, in his address, expressed hope that the weekly cultural haat would play a significant role in preserving the state’s traditional culture.
Among others who spoke on the occasion were Chief Whip of the ruling party in the Tripura Legislative Assembly Kalyani Saha Roy, MLA Ratan Chakraborty, and Secretary of the Department of Information and Cultural Affairs U. P. Chakraborty. The welcome address was delivered by the President of Bangla Sanskriti Balay, Debashis Bhattacharjee.
After the programme, the Governor visited the cultural haat stalls and interacted with artists and participants. A colourful cultural programme was also presented on the occasion.
