Agartala, 11 Dec 2025: A one-year-old child who was reportedly abducted by an unidentified woman from outside Shishu Bihar School on Wednesday was successfully rescued by the West Agartala Police on Thursday, bringing relief to the panic-stricken family and local residents.
How the Child Went Missing
According to the child’s mother, she had left her two children at a passenger shed near Shishu Bihar School while she went to use a nearby bathroom. When she returned, she found her younger child, Suraj Singh, missing.
The four-year-old elder sibling told police that a woman took the baby away in an autorickshaw, prompting immediate suspicion of abduction.
The family, residents of Amtali, had come to the area to seek alms to arrange funds for medical treatment. The father works as a daily wage labourer, and the mother said they were in a desperate situation when the incident occurred.
Immediate Police Action
After receiving the information, personnel from West Women Police Station and Childline reached the spot and began an investigation. The mother and the elder child were later taken to the police station for questioning and support.
Local residents stated that the entire locality is covered by CCTV cameras and expected that footage would help trace the missing child.
