Tripura, 11 Dec 2025: Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Tuesday inaugurated the 15-day State-Level Theatre Festival in Udaipur, stating that theatre plays a crucial role in reflecting human life, society, and contemporary issues. He said culture, agriculture, and industry are the true strength of a nation, and the government has taken special initiatives to revive the declining cultural heritage.
The Chief Minister said that theatre brings people closer, inspires thought, and helps address social issues through creative direction and artistic expression. He added that theatre helps the younger generation understand values and discipline in life.
Tripura’s IPR Officer Drumar Kanti Tulshya delivered the welcome speech and highlighted the cultural importance of organising such festivals. He said many talented artistes have emerged from such platforms.
CM Dr. Saha expressed hope that the theatre atmosphere across the state will further strengthen and contribute significantly towards building a culturally enriched “New Tripura.”
Presiding over the programme, MLA Pranajit Singha Roy said that the participation of artistes from various districts showcases the cultural depth of Tripura. He appreciated the theatre artistes for their dedication and said such events will empower future generations.
The programme was attended by MLA Ranjit Debbarma, MLA Abhishek Debbarma, MLA Manik Tripura, MLA Jitendra Majumder, former Chairperson of Udaipur Municipal Council Mrs. Sujata Choudhury, theatre personality Shakti Mohan Choudhury, and several other dignitaries.
Udaipur District Council Chairman Debendra Debbarma welcomed the guests. Various communities performed short presentations during the event.
A total of 33 theatre teams from across the state will participate in this festival. The theatre festival will continue until December 24.
