Agartala, 11 Dec 2025: Tension gripped the Tripura Tourism Office on Thursday evening after thousands of residents failed to obtain entry passes for Bollywood singer Jubin Nautiyal’s much-anticipated performance at the Unity Promo Fest. What began as long queues soon escalated into a large-scale protest, with people alleging mismanagement, bias, and serious irregularities in the pass distribution process.

“We waited for hours but still didn’t get a pass”— Angry Youths Speak Out
From late afternoon till 8 PM, crowds of disappointed youths gathered outside the Tourism Office. Many claimed they stood in line for several hours, only to be turned away.

“We stood in line for hours yet got nothing. But the women’s queue was taken straight inside the gate. We were treated disrespectfully,”
complained several frustrated youngsters.
Another allegation further fueled public anger:
“Even though we were still waiting, the staff shut the gate saying passes were over.”
Old Udaipur Promo Fest Passes Allegedly Given Out
Amid the uproar, a new controversy emerged:
Some individuals claimed they were handed old passes from the Udaipur Unity Promo Fest held months earlier. The mistake sparked outrage, with a few tearing up the passes in protest.

Crowd Swells, Tension Peaks Outside Tourism Office
As the night progressed, the crowd only grew larger. A massive gathering outside the Tourism Office demanded accountability.
“We want a proper inquiry into this mismanagement. Someone must answer for this mess,”
demanded the agitated public.
VVIP Pass Row Ignites a Fresh Storm
The situation intensified further with allegations surrounding VVIP pass allotment. Citizens questioned:

How did a local makeup artist receive an official invitation card and a VVIP pass? Why were several established personalities overlooked? Why were multiple media houses excluded? Why did many journalists not receive even general passes, while certain content creators reportedly got VVIP access without difficulty?
These complaints have triggered silent resentment even within ruling party circles, sources indicated.
Public Outrage: “Why special treatment for a few?”
For common citizens, the core grievance remains inequality.
“Ordinary people waited endlessly yet didn’t get passes. But some ‘special people’ walked away with VVIP passes. How is this fair?”
Statewide Debate: Are 40,000 Passes Really Over?
As the controversy spreads across Tripura, questions are mounting:
Were the 40,000 passes genuinely exhausted? Or is there an undisclosed internal arrangement?
With Jubin Nautiyal’s show approaching, the pass distribution chaos has triggered a state-wide discussion, and public anger continues to rise.
