Khowai, 10 Dec 2025: A tragic incident has been reported from the Purba Ganki area under Khowai district, where a 15-year-old minor girl allegedly died by suicide after being scolded by her mother.
According to the details provided by Sumitra Kapali, Sub-Inspector of Khowai Women Police Station, the police received information late last night that the minor had hanged herself from a ceiling fan inside her room, unnoticed by other family members.
Upon discovering the incident, the family members immediately attempted to rescue her by bringing her down. She was rushed to Khowai District Hospital, where the attending doctors declared her brought dead.
The deceased has been identified as the daughter of Swapan Shukla Baidya, a resident of the Purba Ganki area. After completion of the post-mortem examination, the body is expected to be handed over to the family today.
The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the entire Purba Ganki locality, leaving residents in deep shock and mourning.
