Agartala: Dec 09. A Forest Protection Unit (FPU) patrol late Tuesday night seized a vehicle allegedly transporting illegally cut timber without any valid documents.
Around 11:36 PM, the FPU team assisted by the Jawharnagar Beat Officer under Ambassa Forest Department intercepted a suspicious vehicle bearing registration no- (TR-05F-1665) in the Longtharai area. A search revealed the vehicle was loaded with timber but carried no transit pass or legal papers.
The timber and the vehicle were immediately seized on the spot and brought under FPU Ambassa’s custody.
Ranger Jagat Debbarma of the Ambassa Forest Department said the seized timber will be measured and the vehicle details verified before initiating action under the Tripura Forest Act, 1978 and other applicable rules.
