Tripura, 06 Dec 2025: A long-standing land dispute turned violent on Friday morning (6 December) in Bajila Para of Jagbandhu Para ADC Village under Gandacherra subdivision, leaving one man critically injured. The accused, identified as 50-year-old Dasharath Reang, fled the scene immediately after the incident and remains absconding. The attack has sparked panic and unrest in the locality.
According to local sources, an old dispute over a patta land escalated into a heated argument between neighbours Milijoy Reang (40) and Dasharath Reang early in the morning. As tensions peaked, Dasharath reportedly drew a country-made firearm and fired at Milijoy.
Eyewitnesses said the bullet struck Milijoy directly on the head, causing him to collapse on the spot. Hearing the gunshot, residents rushed to the scene and immediately rescued the injured man.
Milijoy was taken to the Gandacherra Sub-Divisional Hospital in critical condition. After initial treatment, doctors referred him to the district hospital for advanced medical care. His condition is reported to be extremely serious.
Upon receiving information, Gandacherra Police reached both the hospital and the crime scene. An investigation has been launched, and a search operation is underway to arrest the accused. However, at the time of filing this report, Dasharath Reang had not been traced.
Meanwhile, the incident has created shock and fear among residents, who are demanding the swift arrest of the accused to restore peace in the area.
