Tripura, 5 Sec 2025: Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha has emphasized the need to utilise locally available raw materials to set up new industries in the state. Highlighting the importance of innovative thinking beyond traditional approaches, the Chief Minister made these remarks during a review meeting held today at the Secretariat on the growth of Tripura’s small-scale industries.
The Chief Minister said that the state must focus on its abundant natural resources particularly pineapple, jackfruit, and rubber to strengthen industrial activities. He noted that priority must be given to the production of value-added and diversified products using these raw materials.
He mentioned that Tripura’s pineapple has strong market potential outside the state and should be promoted further. He suggested setting up a dedicated processing centre for pineapple and recommended organising a pineapple festival at the national level to enhance visibility.
Dr. Saha also encouraged efforts to establish a spice manufacturing unit in the state and advised Tripura Industrial Development Corporation (TIDC) officials to take necessary initiatives in this regard.
During the review meeting, TIDC officials presented updates on ongoing projects and future plans to the Chief Minister. Industries & Commerce Minister Santana Chakma, TIDC Chairman Shuvlal Chakma, Secretary of Industries & Commerce Kiran Gitte, and other senior officials attended the meeting.
Finance Secretary Dr. P.K. Chakraborty and Secretary of Law Anupam Roy were also present.
