Tripura, 03 Dec 2025: A high-level review meeting was held today at the Secretariat under the chairmanship of Abhishek Singh, Secretary of Urban Development and Chairman of Agartala Smart City Limited, to discuss the ongoing uncoordinated excavation and construction works taking place under Agartala Smart City Limited.
Officials from the Urban Development Department, Power Department, Water and Health Departments, Tripura Jal Board, and various project contractors were present.
During the meeting, it was observed that unplanned digging in several parts of the city has been causing serious inconvenience to the public. Instructions were issued to immediately stop such activities.
It was decided that from now on, no digging work can be carried out in an unregulated or haphazard manner. Any excavation must be restricted within a stretch of 50–60 meters at a time. New work cannot begin until the existing stretch is fully completed. Before starting any new stretch, departments must issue prior notification at least two days in advance.
Additionally, before initiating excavation, approval must be taken from the Traffic Department, along with written permission. To minimise disruptions, Smart City authorities will have to publish a detailed guideline for public awareness, including safety measures, traffic diversion plans, and road-use changes. Signboards must be installed at all excavation sites.
The meeting also decided that the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Commissioner will conduct a weekly review meeting to ensure timely completion and proper coordination of all works.
This information was shared through a press release issued by the Managing Director of Agartala Smart City Limited.
