Tripura, 3 Dec 2025: In an inspiring example of timely medical intervention, a three-year-old child from Balicherra village under North Tripura’s Kanchanpur subdivision has received a new lease of life after undergoing a complex heart surgery supported by the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK).
During a routine health screening by the RBSK Mobile Health Team, doctors detected signs of a congenital heart defect in the child, identified as Saidai. Over the past two years, Saidai had been experiencing frequent health complications, including severe cough, fever, and physical weakness. Concerned about these recurring symptoms, RBSK doctors referred him to specialists for advanced evaluation.
Subsequent examinations at IGM Hospital in Agartala and ECG-Echocardiography reports confirmed that Saidai was suffering from a dangerous congenital heart disease. Doctors warned that without immediate treatment, the condition could become life-threatening.
Following the diagnosis, the child was taken to AMRI Hospital, Kolkata, for further tests and surgery arrangements. Under the National Health Mission’s approval, Saidai was admitted to the hospital where a team of specialists successfully conducted the required heart surgery.
The RBSK team also ensured that the family received the necessary logistical and financial support throughout the process. The Child Welfare Committee, along with hospital authorities, facilitated the treatment under government-approved paediatric cardiology support.
Family Expresses Deep Gratitude
Saidai’s parents expressed heartfelt thanks to the doctors, health workers, and government authorities who helped save their son’s life. They said the support they received from diagnosis to surgery would forever remain unforgettable.
Officials from the RBSK team stated that the case highlighted the importance of routine child health screenings. They added that many severe childhood illnesses can be detected early and treated effectively if parents follow up with medical advice.
Government Emphasises Mission’s Success
The Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram continues to provide critical life-saving medical interventions for children from economically weaker families. In this case as well, the coordinated effort of field health workers ensured that a child’s life was protected through timely detection, treatment, and government-funded surgery.
Saidai has now recovered well and returned home with his parents. Doctors are hopeful about his future health.
