SHABD, Lucknow | December 3: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered a sweeping crackdown on Bangladeshi and Rohingya infiltrators residing illegally in the state. Taking a firm position, the Chief Minister issued detailed directives to identify, detain, and initiate deportation proceedings against all foreign nationals living without valid documents.
According to the instructions, 17 urban local bodies have been directed to begin extensive verification drives. These bodies will prepare detailed lists of Rohingya and Bangladeshi nationals working in municipal-level roles such as sanitation, daily-wage labour, and other temporary assignments. The lists will be submitted to Commissioners and Inspector Generals (IGs) for further action.
In a significant administrative move, CM Yogi has also instructed officials to set up detention centres in every divisionof the state. In the first phase, Commissioners and IGs have been asked to expedite preparations for establishing these centres. These facilities will house undocumented foreign nationals until their deportation process is completed.
Lucknow Mayor Sushma Kharkwal welcomed the move, saying:
“I am very happy because the action I always wanted to take has now been ordered by the Honourable Chief Minister. I am glad that the decision I took earlier was absolutely correct.”
Officials say that CM Yogi’s step will ensure better control over foreign nationals living illegally in Uttar Pradesh and will streamline the legal process. Large-scale action is expected across the state in the coming days.
Following the Chief Minister’s directives, district administrations have already launched major verification and monitoring operations. Authorities believe these measures will bring all undocumented individuals under strict oversight and strengthen internal security.
With these instructions, the state government aims to prevent illegal settlement and tighten law-and-order mechanisms. More statewide operations are anticipated soon.
