Agartala, Dec 3: Tension gripped the Lembuchhara ICAR office on Wednesday after a female staff member alleged prolonged workplace harassment by a colleague, identified as Tonmoy Saha. Following the complaint, the office convened an emergency meeting around 3 PM to address the matter, drawing public attention and prompting the presence of police.
According to office sources, the complainant, Rubi Debbarma, had submitted a written complaint describing repeated misbehavior and verbal harassment. Staff members told reporters that the issue had reportedly been ongoing for more than a month. Video In-Charge Asima Shukla Vaidya expressed sharp dissatisfaction over the alleged misconduct and demanded that firm action be taken.

The situation intensified when the DDO Ashwini Vaidya reacted angrily upon noticing journalists at the office, creating further commotion. Meanwhile, several locals, including relatives of the complainant, gathered outside seeking assurance of her safety. They said the victim had informed them she felt mentally distressed due to continued harassment.
Local resident Himu Debbarma told reporters that they had already approached the Joint Director regarding the matter and urged the authorities to take strict action. Police personnel present at the spot reportedly advised the office to ensure appropriate disciplinary measures, stating that such behavior could not be ignored.
Officials informed the gathering that the complaint was being reviewed and that a decision regarding action against the accused employee would likely be taken after internal discussions. The incident has raised concerns about workplace safety and the need for stronger mechanisms to protect female staff in government establishments.
