Tripura, 01 Dec, 2025: West Tripura district has recorded significant progress in implementing the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) during the current financial year, with 56,954 residents already brought under the accident insurance coverage. The district had set a target of 63,521 enrolments.
According to district officials, enrolment has been completed across all blocks, including Bamutia, Belbari, Dukli, Hezamara, Jirania, Lefunga, Madhya, Mohanpur and Old Agartala, reflecting strong public response to the low-premium insurance scheme.
PMSBY is a central accident insurance initiative that provides financial protection in cases of accidental death or disability. By depositing an annual premium of ₹20, beneficiaries or their families become eligible for compensation. The scheme offers ₹2 lakh in the event of accidental death or full permanent disability, and ₹1 lakh for partial disability.
Any individual aged 18 to 70 years with a bank account can subscribe to the scheme. The West Tripura district administration under the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission has been actively facilitating enrolment to ensure wider coverage among rural households.
