Tripura, 21 Oct, 2025: Along with the rest of the country, Police Commemoration Day was observed with due solemnity and respect in Tripura today. The main state-level event was organized at the Manoranjan Debbarma Memorial Stadium in Arundhatinagar, Agartala.
Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha paid floral tributes at the memorial to honor the brave police personnel and jawans who laid down their lives in the line of duty. Chief Secretary J. K. Sinha, Director General of Police Anurag, and other senior police officers also offered tributes to the martyrs.

During the ceremony, homage was paid to 191 police personnel and jawans from across the country who lost their lives in the line of duty between September 1, 2024, and August 31, 2025, including two from Tripura.
They were:
Sub-Inspector David Darlong of Tripura Police, who was martyred while on duty at Khedachhara in North Tripura, and Rifleman Milan Debbarma of TSR, who was martyred while performing duty at Chirakuti Tri-Junction under Kailashahar Police Station.
The Chief Minister paid heartfelt tributes to both fallen heroes and extended condolences to their bereaved families.
Speaking at the event organized by the State Police Headquarters, the Chief Minister said that Police Commemoration Day is a solemn occasion to pay homage to and remember those police personnel and jawans who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation and for ensuring public safety.
He lauded the dedication and commitment of India’s police and paramilitary forces who continue to perform their duties with courage, discipline, and professionalism in safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty, unity, and security.
Dr. Saha expressed confidence that the police and security personnel will continue to discharge their duties efficiently and with the same sense of devotion in the coming days.
It may be recalled that on October 21, 1959, ten brave police personnel were martyred in an ambush by Chinese forces at Hot Springs in Ladakh. To honor their sacrifice, the day is observed every year across the nation as Police Commemoration Day.
