Agartala, October 11, 2025: The Tripura Police has issued an official clarification regarding the viral social media reports alleging the gang rape of a woman in the state. According to the press release from the Office of the Director General of Police, Tripura, the claim circulating on social media since October 10, 2025, is false and unverified.
As per the report, a video surfaced showing a woman admitted to GBP Hospital, with allegations that she had been gang raped in a vehicle and later abandoned in a jungle. Following the circulation of the video, an immediate enquiry was initiated at Amtali Police Station. A team of female police officers visited AGMC & GBP Hospital to record the woman’s statement.

During the enquiry, the woman voluntarily admitted that she had consumed alcohol the previous night and could not recall the statements she had made earlier. She categorically denied being raped and confirmed to the woman Sub-Inspector of Amtali PS that she had consumed alcohol on her own.
Even after the allegation resurfaced in newspapers the next day, a second statement was recorded by a woman Deputy SP and a female Executive Magistrate. Once again, the woman denied any incident of rape or physical assault.
The DGP’s office has urged media outlets to refrain from spreading misinformation and to broadcast the verified facts to prevent further confusion.
