Teliamura, Sept 30: A tragic road accident occurred on Sunday morning at Hathai kotor along the Assam–Agartala National Highway under Teliamura police station, leaving one woman dead and her husband critically injured.
The deceased has been identified as Soma Rani Debbarma, wife of Mangal Debbarma of Ramdayal Para, NIT area, Jirania police station. According to reports, the couple had come to Tuichindrai in Teliamura to a local residence for dental treatment. After the procedure, while returning home on their scooter, a collision took place with an oil tanker at Baramura hill on the national highway.
In the impact, Soma Rani Debbarma was thrown onto the road and sustained fatal injuries. Locals immediately informed the Fire & Emergency Services, and both victims were rushed to Teliamura Sub-Divisional Hospital. On arrival, duty doctor Dr. Ajit Debbarma declared Soma Rani Debbarma dead after ECG confirmation. Her husband is undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Following post-mortem, the deceased will be handed over to the family. Teliamura police have seized the tanker involved in the accident. As news of the tragedy spread, relatives rushed to the hospital, where heart-wrenching scenes unfolded as the woman’s daughter and family members broke down in tears.
