Tripura, 28 Sep 2025: Once again, a Bangladeshi national has been detained by police in Khengrabari, an international border area under Khowai subdivision. Reports suggest that criminal networks are increasingly active across the border belt in Khowai, operating freely in smuggling rackets involving narcotics, cattle, and even human trafficking.

Despite the presence of BSF patrols along the Indo-Bangladesh border, questions are being raised over security lapses, as illegal entrants continue to cross into Indian territory with alarming frequency.
OC Jugal Tripura of Baijalbari Police Station has been actively conducting operations against cross-border smuggling and illegal infiltration. In several past instances, police under his leadership have seized large consignments of contraband and narcotics worth lakhs of rupees.
On Sunday morning, acting on a tip-off, police laid a trap in the Khengrabari border area. A Bangladeshi national attempting to cross the barbed-wire fencing into Indian territory was apprehended. During interrogation, the detainee revealed his name as Joy Kumar Dey, a resident of Bangladesh. He admitted to entering India with the help of local trafficking agents.
Police also recovered Bangladeshi currency from his possession. The detainee has been taken to Baijalbari Police Station for further questioning.
