Tripura, 24 Sep 2025: An FIR was filed on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at the Manu Police Station against a 31-year-old man for the alleged molestation of a 23-year-old woman with a disability.
The incident is reported to have occurred on the afternoon of Tuesday, September 16, at the victim’s residence in LTV, Dhalai district.
According to the complaint, the victim, **** Tripura, was alone at home when her neighbour, identified as Babul Debbarma, son of Kartik and Shivani Debbarma, allegedly entered the property without permission.
“The accused broke the gate and entered the home directly while she was watching TV,” the victim’s brother stated. “Suddenly, he approached and started touching her body without her consent.”
The victim reportedly fought back, protecting herself by pushing the accused away with force. The complaint alleges that the accused’s mother witnessed him entering the property from their rooftop. Following the confrontation, Babul Debbarma allegedly fled the scene.
“My sister locked herself in, terrified. She’s traumatized by this sudden act,” the brother added.
The family claims that this is not the first such incident. They allege that the same accused had molested the victim “more horrifically” approximately four years ago.
After attempts to resolve the matter through the local gram panchayat failed, the family proceeded to file a formal police complaint. The Manu Police have registered the FIR and have begun an investigation into the allegations.
No arrests have been reported at this time.
