Tripura, 19 Sep 2025: A few days ago, a video from Mana Dhan Tripura in Belonia went viral, showing alleged damage to a rubber plantation.
Taking serious note of the issue, TTAADC Chief Executive Member (CEM) Purna Chandra Jamatia wrote to the District Magistrate of South Tripura, demanding immediate verification and legal action. On September 19, Jamatia personally visited the site to inspect the damaged plantation.

According to the complaint, a farmer from Banda Para in Belonia alleged that his nearly 4-year-old rubber plantation with around 300 trees was destroyed without due process by Agriculture Department official Dipak Chandra Das.
Jamatia alleged that “only tribal plantations were targeted, while surrounding estates were left untouched,” terming the act discriminatory. He warned that the community would soon launch a collective agitation over the issue.
Raising a larger concern, Jamatia questioned why the Tiprasa community is being “intentionally targeted,” calling the incident a matter of both farmers’ rights and community justice.

Following the controversy, the CEM, along with members of the District Committee (MDC) and YTF, met with the Deputy Director of Agriculture to press for accountability.
