Tripura, Sept 15: Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) Chief Executive Member (CEM) Purna Chandra Jamatia has filed a formal complaint demanding strict action against those involved in the unauthorized cutting of a rubber plantation belonging to a local farmer in South Tripura.
According to the complaint lodged by Mana Dhan Tripura, a resident of Banda Para under Belonia sub-division, around 300 rubber plants, nearly four years old, were allegedly destroyed on September 11, 2025, by Dipak Chandra Das, Superintendent of Agriculture Department from South Radhanagar. The farmer claimed the land has been under his possession for years, with documents (Khatian No. 548) supporting his ownership.
Acting on the matter, CEM Purna Chandra Jamatia formally wrote to the South Tripura District Magistrate and called for immediate legal and administrative action against the culprits. He stressed that such incidents not only destroy the livelihood of poor farmers but also create unrest in rural areas where agriculture is the backbone of the local economy.
The farmer has appealed for justice and compensation for the damage caused, urging the authorities to investigate whether the Agriculture Department had any role in the incident.
This FIR by the TTAADC CEM is expected to intensify pressure on the district administration to conduct a fair inquiry and hold the responsible officials accountable.
