Tripura, 12 September 2025: In a major crackdown on illegal narcotics, police in Dhalai district seized a total of 92 kilograms of dried cannabis from Hridaybasti under Ambassa police station.
On Thursday, acting on specific inputs, police raided the house of one Punya Debbarma in Hridaybasti and recovered several bags containing 47 kg of dried cannabis. The accused, Punya Debbarma, was taken into custody.
This morning, Ambassa police received another tip-off about suspicious bags lying in the nearby jungle area of Hridaybasti. Inspector Uttam Kumar Das rushed to the spot and recovered four bags, which contained several packets of dried cannabis weighing around 45 kg.
Police said a case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and the seized contraband will be produced before the court. Investigation is underway to identify others linked to the smuggling network.
