Tripura, 7 sep 2025: The state-level grand finale of the Red Ribbon Quiz Competition 2025, organized by the Tripura State AIDS Control Society under the Department of Health and Family Welfare, was held at Vivekananda Auditorium of Tripura Medical College and Dr. BRAM Teaching Hospital, Hapania, Agartala yesterday.
Inaugurating the event, West Tripura Zilla Parishad Acting Sabhadhipati Bishwajit Shil said that students can play a crucial role in preventing HIV/AIDS. Through awareness, students can protect themselves as well as spread awareness among peers and communities. He also highlighted the commitment of Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha towards this cause and emphasized that a drug-free campaign is essential to curb the spread of HIV/AIDS, as intravenous drug use poses a major risk. He urged people from all sections of society to come forward to prevent HIV/AIDS.
Among others who spoke on the occasion were Prof. (Dr.) Arindam Dutta, Principal of Tripura Medical College & Dr. BRAM Teaching Hospital; Dr. Shouvik Debbarma, Joint Director of Health Services; Dr. Nirmal Sarkar, Joint Director of Family Welfare & Preventive Medicine; and Dr. Binita Chakma, Project Director of Tripura State AIDS Control Society. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Shankhasubhra Debnath, Assistant Project Director, TSACS.
In the competition, the champion team was awarded a cheque of ₹15,000, the first runner-up received ₹12,000, the second runner-up ₹10,000, and the consolation prize winners received ₹5,000.
This year, 50 teams were shortlisted from each district, with the top eight from each district competing in the state-level rounds. In the grand finale, the champion title went to PM Shri Dharmanagar Higher Secondary School’s Adrija Nath and Anushka Rudrapal. The first runner-up team was Fatikroy Class XII School’s Ankita Debnath and Suparna Malakar, and the second runner-up team was Ambassa English Medium Model School’s Debangshu Deb and Atyushna Acharya. The champion team will represent Tripura at the regional-level Red Ribbon Quiz Competition in Sikkim on 22 September.
At every stage of the district and state competitions, attractive prizes were also given to the audience. The quiz masters for the competitions held across eight districts and at the grand finale were Abhijit Bhattacharjee, Nandu Panikkar, Subhashis Kar, Dr. Shankhasubhra Debnath (Assistant Project Director, TSACS), Shubhrajit Bhattacharjee (Joint Director, IEC, TSACS), and Tamal Deb (Deputy Director, BSD, TSACS).
