SHABD, New Delhi, September 6: Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw today said that the Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms will provide significant relief to middle-class families and give a major push to India’s economic growth.
Briefing the media in New Delhi, Mr. Vaishnaw described the reforms as a “valuable gift” from the Prime Minister to the middle class. He said the new GST measures are expected to add nearly ₹20 lakh crore to the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), thereby strengthening the economy.
The Minister also pointed out that before 2014, the common man was caught in a complex web of multiple taxes, which created additional financial strain on households. He noted that with the introduction of GST, the tax structure has become more simplified and stable, ensuring transparency and ease of compliance.
According to Mr. Vaishnaw, the government remains committed to further strengthening GST mechanisms to benefit both citizens and the economy at large.
