Agartala, September 6: Agartala Mayor Dipak Majumder on Saturday announced that no new drain construction works will be taken up before Durga Puja. He said that the ongoing projects will be completed at the earliest without causing inconvenience to the public.
The Mayor made the remarks while inspecting the under-construction drains at Abhoynagar, where he reviewed progress along with local corporator Hiralal Debnath and senior officials. Majumder noted that some issues had arisen in the Abhoynagar market stretch near the DB Office road, where cover drain works are underway under both the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) and Agartala Smart City Limited.
Accompanied by engineers, zonal officers, and the Smart City CEO, the Mayor interacted with local residents and directed the agencies to resolve problems quickly. He expressed satisfaction with the overall pace and quality of the work, adding that the active involvement of ward corporator Kiran Debnath has ensured smooth progress.
The Mayor also inspected the lake renovation near the Animal Husbandry office, where work had slowed down. He instructed the concerned agency and engineers to expedite the project so that local residents do not face prolonged difficulties.
