Agartala, September 5: On the death anniversary of Mother Teresa, special prayers and floral tributes were offered at her portrait today at Nirmala Shishu Bhavan by the resident sisters and children.
Mother Teresa, born on August 26, 1910, in Skopje, North Macedonia, came to India at the age of 18 and joined the Sisters of Loreto. She later founded the Missionaries of Charity, which dedicated itself to serving the poor, sick, and marginalized across India and the world. For her selfless humanitarian service, she received numerous awards, including the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979.
Remembering her on this occasion, Father Naveen Roshan Lakra of the SBD congregation said,
“Mother Teresa is remembered not only in India but across the globe as a saint. She dedicated her entire life to the service of the poor and the destitute until her last breath. Through her acts of compassion, she saw God in humanity and worked to spread peace in the world. Today, we want to pass on her message—that as long as we live, we too must serve the poor and helpless, and work for peace in society.”
Mother Teresa passed away on September 5, 1997, but her legacy of love, sacrifice, and service continues to inspire millions around the world.
