Agartala, September 4, 2025: Ahead of the upcoming Durga Puja festival, the West Tripura District Administration on Thursday convened a meeting with puja organizers at Mukta Dhara Auditorium to review safety measures, structural fitness, and regulatory compliance of puja pandals.
Addressing the gathering, West Tripura District Magistrate Vishal Kumar stressed the need for a safe, peaceful, and joyous celebration. He said, “Durga Puja is the biggest festival of the year, and our goal is to ensure that it is celebrated in a secure and hassle-free environment. The administration will remain fully engaged with puja clubs and the public so that no disruption or harm occurs.”
The DM specifically warned against pandal gates encroaching onto blacktopped roads, which restrict vehicular movement. “Despite repeated instructions, if clubs continue to block roads with gates, strict action will be taken, including cancellation of the puja concerned,” he cautioned.
On structural guidelines, Kumar proposed a maximum pandal height of 40 feet, idol height of 20 feet, and entry gate height of 20 feet, subject to final discussion with clubs. He urged organizers to prioritize safety and security while maintaining the festive spirit.
The meeting also served as a platform for puja committees to raise issues and coordinate with officials regarding administrative support and regulatory instructions.
