Agartala, Sept 3: Police from East Agartala Police Station arrested seven individuals during a raid at Battala Market, Yesterday Night on charges of illegal gambling under the Tripura Gambling Act.
Acting on a tip-off, Inspector Rana Chatterjee, Officer-in-Charge of East Agartala Police Station, led the operation along with Sub-Inspector Gobinda Sinha, Battala OC Sub-Inspector Shubhojit Deb, and their team.
“We received information that some people were involved in gambling activities at Battala Market. During the raid, we seized gambling materials, ticket booklets, and ₹1,200 in gambling money. Seven persons have been arrested, and legal action is being taken against them under the Tripura Gambling Act,” Inspector Chatterjee told reporters.
Police clarified that the gambling was being conducted through lottery-style tickets, not online platforms.
