Agartala, July 4, 2025: In a significant move to ensure a joyful, safe, and inclusive learning environment across all educational institutions in Tripura, Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha today launched the Tripura School Quality Assessment and Accreditation Framework (TSQAAF) at the Rabindra Centenary Hall, Agartala.
The statewide initiative, organised by the School Education Department in collaboration with Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan and SCERT, aims to empower schools to self-assess and take targeted steps toward academic and institutional improvement. The framework aligns with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister said, “TSQAAF will act as a catalyst in bringing transformative changes to Tripura’s education sector. Every school must evaluate its current status and adopt necessary development strategies.”
He emphasized the government’s priority on education, stating that the highest allocation in the state budget is directed toward the sector. “Initiatives like Harsh, Nipun, and Vidya Setu are being implemented to enhance educational infrastructure and quality. Our goal is to place Tripura among the leading states in the country in the field of education,” Dr. Saha said.
The CM also highlighted that education builds a bridge between the known and the unknown, and it plays a crucial role in shaping morally sound human beings.
Recognition and Initiatives
During the ceremony, 51 educators from South Tripura and Dhalai districts were felicitated by the Chief Minister for their contributions to the School Complex program. He also unveiled the cover of a TSQAAF reference book.
Dr. Saha outlined a range of recent government initiatives aimed at enhancing inclusivity and participation in education:
- Under the CM SATH Scheme, 200 meritorious students were awarded scholarships of ₹60,000 each.
- As part of the Mukhyamantri Kanya Atmanirbhar Yojana, 140 girl students were given scooters.
- Over 1.22 lakh Class IX girls received bicycles.
- College admission fees for female students have been waived, resulting in improved attendance rates.
He noted that more than 200 teachers and 107 librarians have recently been recruited through a transparent selection process, and the state has seen a notable increase in pass percentages in board exams and Vidyajyoti schools.
Focus on Innovation and Values
Calling for innovation in pedagogy, the CM urged teachers to move beyond traditional teaching methods and adopt creative approaches to engage students. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi often says education should not just be textbook-based but a tool for value education, personality development, and nation-building,” he added.
He encouraged the inclusion of students in social activities from an early age, fostering responsible citizenship.
Departmental Updates
Ravel Hemendra Kumar, Special Secretary of the Education Department, reported that Tripura’s dropout rate is significantly below the national average. He also informed that curriculum revisions are being planned.
The event began with a welcome address by N.C. Sharma, Director of Elementary Education. A documentary film on TSQAAF was screened, and the program was attended by district education officers, headmasters, educators, and representatives from SBI Foundation, including its MD & CEO Sanjay Prakash.
