Tripura, April 29, 2025: In a tragic road accident on Tuesday afternoon, an NGO worker associated with the Health Department lost his life on the spot after a motorcycle collided with a JCB machine on the National Highway near Kaulikura Gram Panchayat area under Kailashahar subdivision.
The deceased has been identified as Gyanendra Chakma, aged 35, while another youth riding pillion on the same motorcycle, Arup Chakma, sustained injuries. Both are residents of Ugalchhara under Pecharthal police station. According to reports, the two were on their way to attend an urgent meeting at the Kailashahar District Hospital when the accident occurred.
As their bike approached the Kaulikura area from the Kumarghat direction, it collided head-on with a JCB machine that was turning on the highway. The impact of the collision threw both riders off the bike, resulting in the death of Gyanendra Chakma on the spot. The injured youth, Arup Chakma, is currently undergoing treatment at the Kailashahar District Hospital, while the deceased’s body has been sent to the hospital morgue for postmortem.
Upon receiving the information, police from Kailashahar Police Station rushed to the scene. The JCB driver was arrested and brought to the police station for further investigation. The registration number of the motorcycle involved in the accident is TR02H6563, and that of the JCB is TR02K1513. The incident is being investigated under the supervision of SI Debabrata Shil of Kailashahar Police Station, who confirmed the details of the accident.
