Young Man Dies After Being Run Over by Train on Bengali New Year, Triggers Tension in Teliamura
Teliamura, April 14: A shocking incident unfolded on Bengali New Year’s Day when a young man was found dead on the railway tracks near Melapathar under Teliamura police station. The deceased has been identified as 25-year-old Biswajit Biswas, a daily wage laborer and resident of Krishnapur’s Notun Bazar area.
He was the son of Radhmohan Biswas. According to the family, Biswajit left home around 10:30 PM the previous night, saying he would be taking a night train to Agartala. They claim there were no disputes or unrest at home that could have led to such a tragic end. However, the mysterious nature of his death has stirred widespread speculation across the locality.
Railway police rushed to the scene and have launched an investigation. The body was recovered and sent to Teliamura Sub-Divisional Hospital for post-mortem examination. Authorities have assured the family that the body will be handed over after the completion of necessary formalities.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, especially because it occurred early on New Year’s morning. Adding to the mystery, several important documents were reportedly found on Biswajit’s body — including his bank passbook, voter ID card, and even family photographs. Locals are questioning why someone allegedly on his way to Agartala would carry all such documents, raising doubts about the circumstances surrounding his death.
What’s more disturbing is that this is not the first such incident in the area. The Melapathar stretch of railway tracks has witnessed nearly a dozen similar deaths in recent times, further deepening concerns.
The family and locals are demanding a thorough and transparent investigation to uncover whether the death was accidental, self-inflicted, or involved foul play. Until then, the community remains on edge, awaiting clarity from the ongoing police probe.
