Tripura Moving Ahead with Development under PM Modi’s Vision: CM Manik Saha
Tripura, 10 April 2025: Tripura is progressing steadily under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s principle of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas (Together with all, Development for all, Trust of all). The state government is working towards the goal of building Ek Tripura, Shreshtha Tripura (One Tripura, Best Tripura), said Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha.
He made the remarks today while inaugurating a newly constructed District Panchayat Resource Centre at Ichailalchhara under Kalacherra Block in Dharmanagar. During the inaugural program held at the Resource Centre premises, the Chief Minister virtually inaugurated 40 other developmental projects implemented by various departments in North Tripura district and laid foundation stones for 4 more projects on 09 April.

In his speech, the Chief Minister stated that a certain section of people fails to see the development due to their negative mindset. The government, however, is working with a positive attitude. He emphasized that the present government is giving special importance to the development of the indigenous communities. Prime Minister Modi has also taken multiple initiatives for the welfare of the tribal population.
The Chief Minister highlighted the introduction of a new scheme in this year’s budget — the Mukhyamantri Shasya Shyamala Yojana, aimed at enhancing the production of high-yield crops, with an allocated budget of Rs 5 crore. Under the Chief Minister’s Rubber Mission, rubber will be cultivated over 20,745 hectares of land, and 10 rubber processing centres will be constructed. In addition, three tribal hostels with 100 beds each and seven tribal hostels with 50 beds each will be newly constructed.

CM Saha also mentioned the launch of the Balika Samriddhi Yojana in Tripura, under which a sum of Rs 50,000 will be invested for each girl child from Antyodaya families residing permanently in the state. The money can be withdrawn when the girl turns 18. Furthermore, the Chief Minister announced that coaching centers for Science and English will be launched in every subdivision in the current financial year. These centers will accommodate 100 students each from Class XI and XII. Three new degree colleges and a 100-bed super specialty eye hospital will also be established.
He added that the number of self-help groups (SHGs) in the state has increased significantly — from nearly 4,000 earlier to around 56,000 now — and these groups are being provided with revolving funds. The state’s per capita income has also seen a notable rise. Speaking on drug abuse, the CM urged everyone to raise awareness and build a mass movement so that the youth do not fall into addiction.
Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy, also speaking at the event, mentioned that although North and Unakoti districts were previously lagging in development, today, major developmental activities are being carried out in both districts. He announced the construction of an Agarwood Market at Kadamtala for the benefit of agarwood cultivators in the state.
Tripura Legislative Assembly Speaker Biswabandhu Sen also addressed the gathering. Other dignitaries present included MLAs Jadab Lal Nath, North Tripura DM Chandni Chandran, social workers Kajal Kumar Das and Bikash Nath. The event was presided over by North Tripura Zilla Parishad Chairperson Aparna Nath, who also gave the vote of thanks.
Notably, the construction of the District Panchayat Resource Centre began on August 25, 2023, and was completed in October 2024, with a cost of Rs 1.9 crore. During the event, Kadamtala and Kalacherra Blocks were felicitated for achieving 100% house construction under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural). The Chief Minister handed over certificates to the respective BDOs, Sanjib Debnath and Amit Chand.
