Religious Sites Not Only Enhance the State’s Beauty but Also Boost Tourism
Tripura, 04 April 2025: Various fairs across the state beautifully showcase the cultural harmony between indigenous and non-indigenous communities. The current state government has taken several initiatives to enhance these fairs. Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha made these remarks while inaugurating the three-day Brahmakunda Fair and Exhibition this evening. The event was organized by the Mohanpur Sub-Divisional Administration, the Department of Information and Cultural Affairs, and the Brahmakunda Fair Committee.
The Chief Minister stated that fairs serve as a meeting ground for people from different sections of society. By developing Tripura’s traditional fairs, the vision of “Ek Tripura, Shrestha Tripura” (One Tripura, Best Tripura) can be realized. The fairs help preserve and enrich the state’s rich cultural heritage. He emphasized that the government is focusing on the development of areas where such fairs are held. Religious sites not only enhance the state’s beauty but also contribute to the growth of the tourism industry.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also taken steps to transform religious sites into major tourist destinations, and in line with his vision, Tripura is placing special emphasis on the beautification of various religious sites. Highlighting the importance of unity and harmony in the state, the Chief Minister reaffirmed that the current government is a people’s government committed to public welfare.
Several initiatives have been implemented for the benefit of the people, who are already experiencing their positive impact. In his welcome speech, Minister of State for Industries and Commerce, Brishaketu Debbarma, urged everyone to maintain peace and discipline while enjoying the three-day fair.
He emphasized that the Brahmakunda Fair is one of the state’s most significant traditional fairs. A ₹14 crore development project has been undertaken for the fairground, and work on this project is expected to begin within the current financial year. West Tripura District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar delivered the vote of thanks at the event.
Among the distinguished guests were West Tripura Zilla Parishad Acting Chairperson Biswajit Shil, Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council Executive Member Rabindra Debbarma, Hezamara BAC Chairman Sunil Debbarma, Mohanpur Panchayat Samiti Chairman Rakesh Deb, West Tripura Zilla Parishad Member Joylal Das, Tripura Tea Development Corporation Chairman Samir Ranjan Ghosh, Director of Information and Cultural Affairs Department Bimbisar Bhattacharya, and Mohanpur Sub-Divisional Magistrate Subhash Dutta. Following the inaugural ceremony, the Chief Minister and other guests toured the fairground.
