State Government Committed to Quality Education for Students: Chief Minister
Tripura, 01 April 2025: The state government is determined to provide quality education to students in both state-run and TTAADC-administered schools. To ensure this, a total of 709 teachers have been deputed to TTAADC-area schools for quality education, with ₹66.98 crore already allocated for their salaries in the 2024-25 financial year.
Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha made this statement in the Legislative Assembly today while responding to a notice submitted by MLA Pathanlal Jamatia during the Reference Period. He further stated that, in addition to education, the government is ensuring proper nutrition for students and encouraging school attendance through the PM-POSHAN scheme. Under this scheme, cooked meals are provided in all primary and secondary schools in TTAADC areas.
For this purpose, ₹5.38 crore is allocated annually to the TTAADC administration, with ₹4.94 crore already provided in the current financial year (2024-25).
To enhance students’ interest in education, several hostels are being constructed under various schemes:
• 14 out of 15 hostels under the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya scheme are in TTAADC areas.
• 9 out of 16 hostels under the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Residential School scheme are also located in TTAADC regions.
• These hostels provide free accommodation, food, and education for students.
• Additionally, 39 new hostels have been approved under the PM-Janman and Dharati Awa Janjati Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan schemes, all of which will be established in TTAADC areas.
To reduce school dropout rates, the “Vidyalaya Chalo Abhiyan” campaign is actively identifying dropout students through Anganwadi workers and enrolling them back in schools. This initiative has significantly lowered the dropout rate in the state.
To further improve education in TTAADC areas, the Chief Minister proposed forming an Administrative Committee with representatives from both the TTAADC administration and the School Education Department. This committee will oversee teacher allocation, resource distribution, and overall school development to enhance the quality of education in autonomous district council areas.
