Election Commission Holds 4,719 Meetings Across India, Over 28,000 Political Representatives Participate
New Delhi, 01 April: In the past 25 days, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has conducted 4,719 meetings across the country to discuss various election-related matters. These meetings, held at different administrative levels, saw the participation of over 28,000 representatives from various political parties.
According to ECI Director Anuj Chandak, the meetings were distributed as follows:
• 40 meetings with Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs)
• 800 meetings with District Election Officers (DEOs)
• 3,879 meetings with Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) These discussions were based on the directives issued during the Chief Electoral Officers’ Conference held on March 4-5, 2025, at IIIDEM, New Delhi.
The conference was attended by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, along with Election Commissioners Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi. The Election Commission has stated that the primary objective of these meetings was to ensure a transparent and efficient election process while addressing pending electoral issues.
Officials were instructed to resolve matters in accordance with the Representation of the People Act (1950 & 1951), Registration of Electors Rules (1960), Conduct of Elections Rules (1961), and various guidelines issued by the ECI. The ECI has directed all Chief Electoral Officers to submit an ‘Action Taken Report’ regarding these meetings.
If any issues remain unresolved, the Commission will review them further. Political representatives from all states and union territories actively participated in these discussions. The Election Commission has also shared images and updates from these meetings on its official social media platforms.
