Tripura 25 Jan, 2025: Yesterday, The inauguration of the “Bio-Village 2.0 Project” took place at Tulashikhar under Khowai Sub-Division, covering five villages in the Tulashikhar Block. The project was officially launched today at 2 PM at the Champa Hawor Winter Memories Community Hall by the Minister of Science, Technology, and Environment, Animesh Debbarma. Present at the event were Khowai District Magistrate Chandni Chandran, Director of the Biotechnology Department Anjan Sengupta, Chairman of Tulashikhar Block Pradeep Debbarma, and other officials.
Under the implementation of the Bio-Village initiative by the Biotechnology Department, five villages in Tulashikhar Block have been selected: Purba Behalabari, Vidyabil, Paschim Rajnagar, Paschim Champachhara, and Purba Takshaiya. These villages are predominantly inhabited by tribal communities, with some settlements of the Odia community.
As part of the Bio-Village 2.0 Project, energy-efficient electric bulbs, fans, and streetlights have been distributed among beneficiaries in these villages. Alongside the Biotechnology Department, several other departments, including Tulashikhar RD Block, Animal Resource Development, Fisheries, and Agriculture, have contributed to the project.
Initiatives under the project include the distribution of piglets, feed for pig rearing, solar-powered pumps, ducklings, and other resources. A total of 317 beneficiaries from the five villages have received energy-saving fans, bulbs, solar-powered pumps, goats, ducklings, animal feed, mushroom kits, fish fingerlings, biogas units, solar cookers, beekeeping equipment, and chicks.
