Health Workers Conduct Checkups, Promote Exclusive Breastfeeding and Hygiene to Prevent Infections
Tripura 22 Jan, 2025: Health workers in North Tripura are committed to maintaining the health of mothers and newborns through regular checkups and providing necessary health guidance. On January 17, 2025, healthcare workers conducted a health checkup for a newborn in Purba Makumchhera, under the Laljuri Primary Health Center. During this initiative, they also offered essential advice to the mother and other family members regarding hygiene and nutrition.
Present at the initiative were Jayashree Nath, head of the Laljuri Primary Health Center, and midwife Nitashree Nath, who emphasized the importance of exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months, following hygienic practices to prevent infections, and introducing balanced complementary feeding after six months.
Similarly, in the Raghna area, under the Brahmagar Primary Health Center, healthcare workers monitored the health of a 14-day-old newborn. The team, led by healthcare supervisor Jaya Rani Sinha and midwife Bibani Pal, offered guidance to the family on preventing infections and ensuring adequate nutrition for the mother and child.
These health initiatives, led by the Department of Family Welfare and Disease Prevention, aim to safeguard maternal and child health in rural areas through education and regular health interventions.
