Agartala 22 Jan, 2025: Yesterday, Peace is the foremost prerequisite for development. Development is possible without peace. As a peaceful environment is prevailing in the state, the more people are showing interest in investment and number of tourists is also one the rise. Tripura stands in second position in terms of GSDP growth among the Northeastern states. Today the Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha made this statement after inaugurating the state level celebration of Statehood Day at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan, Agartala. He said, nowadays Tripura is becoming an attractive destination to the tourists. At the same time Tripura is progressing in every field of development. Whenever the state was in need in context of any developmental issue, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Home Minister Amit Shah extended a helping hand to the state. Referring to the recent devastating floods the Chief Minister said, the state government could properly combat the challenges only due to cooperation of the Central government as well as the people of the state.
At the programme, Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha presented an overview of the evolution of Tripura as a state since the royal era. He also referred to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Act East policy and the initiatives taken one after another for the development of Northeast as part of this policy. Remarkable development has been observed in the field of national highways, rail, internet communication etc. due to the implementation of the HIRA concept of the Prime Minister. The Chief Minister also expressed hope that the Northeast region would play a pivotal role in the Indian economy.
The Chief Minister said, the government has taken various measures to expedite socio-economic development in the state. The Tripura Industrial Development Policy, Tripura Start-up Policy, Unnati Prakalpa, IPAT, Tripura Asset Management Policy, Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana, Sushason Department, State Policy for the Empowerment of Women, Tripura Agar Policy, Tripura Satellite Development Township Scheme, Tea Auction Centre, signing of MoU with the Tata Technologies, upgradation of infrastructure in the industrial estates etc. are among the major initiatives in this regard.
Among other dignitaries present at the programme were tourist minister Sushanta Chowdhury, industry and commerce minister Santana Chakma, youth affairs and sports minister Tinku Roy, minister of cooperation Shukla Charan Noatia, DGP (Intelligence) Anurag Dhankar. The dignitaries released the cover of a folder and a documentary was screened. Additionally, the Chief Minister officially launched the logo of Tripura state. Five civil awards, 10 Statehood Day awareds and Chief Minister’s Civil Service Award were handed over to the recipients of the awards.
At the programme chief secretary J.K. Sinha and DGP Amitabh Ranjan also spoke on the occasion. Both of them highlighted the developmental scenario in the state. Welcome address was delivered by the secretary of ICA department Dr. P.K. Chakraborty who also shed light on the democratic evolution of the state.
