Tripura 20 Jan, 2025: A shocking incident has unfolded in the Kuchpara area under the jurisdiction of Kalyanpur Police Station in Khowai district, where the body of a newborn was discovered on the banks of the Khowai River. The incident has caused widespread outrage and concern among locals.
According to the police, the discovery was made around 1:30 PM today when locals spotted the body and informed the authorities. Acting swiftly, officers from the Kalyanpur Police Station reached the spot and recovered the body. It was sent to Kalyanpur Hospital for post-mortem examination, said Officer-in-Charge Tapas Malakar.
Witnesses reported seeing the body lying near the riverbank for some time before raising the alarm. The incident drew a large crowd, with many describing the situation as tragic and inhumane.
Tapas Malakar stated that an investigation has been launched to identify the newborn and determine the cause of death. Initial suspicions suggest it could be linked to an unwanted pregnancy, though the possibility of criminal activity is also being considered.
The discovery has left the local community in a state of grief and anger. Some have criticized the lack of social and humanitarian awareness that may have led to such a situation. Authorities are under pressure to uncover the truth and take strict action against those responsible.
