Tripura 15Jan, 2025: In the last CBSE-conducted board exams, Vidya Jyoti schools achieved an 87% pass rate in Class X and 75% in Class XII. To further improve these results, the Education Department is making concerted efforts. The Chief Minister, Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha, expressed confidence during the Assembly’s Q&A session that students from Vidya Jyoti schools would perform even better in the coming years. He made this statement in response to a query by MLA Gopal Chandra Roy.
Addressing additional questions from MLAs Gopal Chandra Roy and Sudip Roy Barman, the Chief Minister mentioned various initiatives taken by the Education Department to enhance teaching standards in Vidya Jyoti schools. According to the Vidya Jyoti project guidelines, advertisements were issued to recruit 300 subject teachers and 200 special educators specifically for these schools. Due to a lack of suitable candidates, 179 subject teachers were appointed, including 44 in sociology, 37 in physiology, 49 in geography, and 49 in economics. Additionally, 88 special educators have already been hired. Recruitment for 125 physical education teachers, 125 school librarians, and 118 computer science teachers will soon be completed.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the Education Department has undertaken multiple measures to improve the quality of education and infrastructure in Vidya Jyoti schools. So far, 41 training camps have been organized through CBSE experts in collaboration with SCERT and the Department of School Education. Other measures include:
• A monitoring system for academic progress.
• Teacher diaries and student notebooks for regular updates.
• Deployment of district coordinators and subject experts to assist Vidya Jyoti schools.
• Completion of resource generation workshops for secondary and higher secondary CBSE teachers from 125 Vidya Jyoti schools.
• Sample question papers to prepare Class X and XII students for board exams.
• Learning hubs and grooming classrooms for board exam preparation.
• Orientation sessions and distribution of past five years’ CBSE board question papers among Class X and XII students.
