Agartala, Jan 10: Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu delivered the first address of 2025 in the Tripura Legislative Assembly today, presenting the state government’s achievements and its vision for the future. The address focused on key development milestones under the “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” initiative, touching upon progress in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, tribal welfare, and the preservation of the state’s rich heritage.
Governor Reddy began by commending the state government for maintaining peace and harmony while accelerating development across all sectors. A notable highlight was the historic tripartite agreement signed last year between the Government of India, the state government, and the Tipra Motha, which aims to address tribal issues comprehensively and bring inclusive development to indigenous communities.
Development Milestones
Tribal Welfare and Reintegration
The Governor applauded the state’s efforts in fostering peace by bringing extremist groups like the NLFT and ATTF into the mainstream. A significant financial package was approved to enhance tribal welfare and promote socio-economic development among tribal communities. The state also focused on preserving the cultural heritage of tribal groups while ensuring their active participation in governance and development projects.
Agriculture and Fisheries
Agriculture, the backbone of the state’s economy, saw major achievements. Financial relief was provided to 1.4 lakh farmers affected by floods, and organic farming practices were encouraged on thousands of hectares. Fisheries also received a boost, with support extended to over 11,000 farmers. The inauguration of a ₹42.4 crore Integrated Aqua Park in Kailashahar is expected to revolutionize the fisheries sector.
Education and Skill Development
The Governor highlighted significant improvements in education, including the establishment of three private universities and the introduction of smart classrooms in 854 schools. These initiatives aim to modernize the education system and enhance access to quality learning for students across the state.
Skill development programs were also emphasized, enabling the youth to become self-reliant and competitive in emerging job markets.
Healthcare and Housing
The health sector witnessed remarkable progress, with the inauguration of new primary health centers and community health facilities. The state government also prioritized affordable housing, with the construction of over 1.08 lakh homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin, fulfilling the dream of “Housing for All.”
Infrastructure and Urban Development
The government made significant strides in infrastructure development. Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, 6.3 lakh rural households were provided with piped water connections. The restoration of the Ujjayanta Palace Gardens and the launch of the Chief Minister’s Satellite Town Development Scheme showcased the state’s commitment to urban development.
Improved road connectivity has also facilitated better transportation and trade across the state.
Renewable Energy Push
The state is making progress in renewable energy, with NHPC collaborating on pump storage power projects and a 120 MW gas-based power plant being developed in Rukhia. These initiatives reflect Tripura’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions.
Awards and Recognition
Tripura received seven National Panchayat Awards in 2024, highlighting the state’s excellence in local governance. Additionally, Dhalai district won the National Water Award for exemplary achievements in water management and conservation.
Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu concluded his address by reaffirming the state government’s dedication to sustainable development, inclusive growth, and ensuring a brighter future for all. He expressed confidence in the state’s trajectory toward becoming a model of governance and progress in the country.
