Tripura 8 Jan, 2025: In a major development for rail connectivity in Tripura, electric trains will soon start operating in the state. The announcement was made on Monday by N.F. Railway’s Chief Public Relations Officer, Sabyasachi Sharma.
He revealed that the electrification of the railway line from Badarpur to Agartala has been completed. Work on the electrification of the railway line from Agartala to Sabroom is progressing rapidly and is expected to be completed within the next 2-3 months.
However, electric train services to Guwahati cannot commence yet due to pending electrification work between Maibang and Chandranathpur in the Lumding division of N.F. Railway. Efforts to complete this section are also underway at a fast pace, Sharma added.
