Tripura 15 November, 2024: In a significant breakthrough, based on confidential information, a team from the Border Security Force (BSF), in collaboration with the Amtali Police Station and Agartala GRP (Government Railway Police), successfully apprehended a suspected Indian human trafficker late last night in the Belabar Palpara area.
The accused, Rajju Mia, aged 40, hailing from Belabar, Palpara under Amtali Police Station in West Tripura, has been allegedly involved in facilitating illegal border crossings for Bangladeshi nationals into India. He has reportedly been transporting individuals to various locations across India via rail routes.
Agartala GRP police had been monitoring the suspect’s activities for a considerable time, often in plainclothes, as they tracked his movements and connections. Police sources reveal that his arrest could lead to more breakthroughs in the human trafficking network in the region, as further names have surfaced during the investigation. Efforts are ongoing to bring these additional suspects to justice.
Rajju Mia is currently under interrogation by the Agartala GRP police to uncover further information about his operations and network. He is expected to be presented before the Agartala Magistrate Court later today. This arrest marks a significant step in the ongoing crackdown on human trafficking across the Indo-Bangladesh border.
